Tired of Feeling overwhelmed?
Anxiety is exhausting! To a certain degree, everyone will feel anxious during their lifetime; it could be before a job interview, an exam, a public speaking engagement or before a marathon. However, anxiety is not the same thing as this one-off feeling before an event.
So, what is anxiety?
Anxiety is a general feeling of unease, one which is difficult to control and causes the sufferer to feel worried, sometimes for no reason that they can pinpoint. These feelings of anxiety can be short-term or long-term and can range in severity, but some sufferers find that this affects their day-to-day life and changes their personality and habits
Anxiety can be a diagnosis, or it can be a symptom of a larger mental health issue such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Regardless of which it is, I can help you to work through these feelings and help you to create coping techniques that work for you.
Anxiety can cause both psychological and physical symptoms to occur depending upon the severity;
- Inability to concentrate
- Feeling of restlessness or being ‘on edge.’
- Stomach ache/nausea
- Heart palpitations
Not every sufferer will experience all of these symptoms, and the symptoms you do experience might not be present all of the time. However, if you are suffering from anxiety, you will be able to feel the change in your general wellbeing and daily life.
Anxiety can impact your life in a number of ways; you could have trouble in work or school due to an inability to concentrate, lack of sleep can have additional side effects also. Additionally, the physical symptoms can impact upon your ability to partake in activities you would normally enjoy, due to anxiety also causing some people to feel unable to socialise with friends or in extreme cases unable to leave their house.
